Background & Challenges

  • Booterstown Community Centre is a one-room community centre / hall located in Grotto Avenue, Booterstown.
  • The Centre is located in a built up residential area, and is challenged by the very limited nearby on street parking. It is well served by the Rock Road bus corridor and Booterstown Dart Station, with parking available across the road in the Dart Station Car Park.
  • The current Centre was officially opened in 1994, and its predecessor organisations have been active in Booterstown for over 50 years.
  • The Centre is a charitable organisation with the governance structure of a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status from the Charities Regulator in Ireland (CRA).
  • Our main objectives are to provide educational and recreational facilities and activities for the community.
  • The Centre is governed by a Board of Directors (Trustees) who all volunteer their time and meet on a quarterly basis.
  • One of the key challenges will be the need to seek more volunteers committed to providing community service and with relevant skills and/or experience to fill various roles.

Committee

Booterstown Community Centre is operationally managed by a small actively engaged volunteer committee, referred to as the Board of Trustees.

Each member volunteer is expected to take specific responsibilities in relation to the running of the centre.

Members of this committee meet approximately six times each year.

How the committee operates and how our processes and structure need to develop to meet the future demands of operating the centre is continually under review.

We are always open to new ideas, participation and support.

We can be contacted on our dedicated email address booterstowncommunitycentre@gmail.com
